Our Lady, Undoer of Knots

I'm still smiling, thinking about the Catholic Country Chronicles Marian brunch last Saturday morning!
Fifty women joined us on a glorious May morning to honor our Blessed Mother. It was such a joy to visit with the women as we drank coffee, ate pastries, and chit-chatted.
I had the chance to stand face-to-face with many of the women as I tied knot after knot for them during our rosary-making workshop.

Admittedly, the knots were the bottleneck of the operation, with 2 knot-tiers for 50 women; each requiring 3 knots.
If you have never made a cord mission rosary before, I should explain that a special tool is needed to make them, which is why only two people were tying knots…

Now, the knot thing may have been a bit of a bottleneck, but, selfishly, it gave me the opportunity to intentionally see and visit with each of our guests, even if only for 30 seconds. Despite my sore fingers, tying knots was actually the highlight of my morning!
That being said, a few of my knots got wonky when I pulled them tight. So then I had to find a way to carefully manipulate the string to gently coax the knot apart, careful not to pull it the wrong way, which would tighten it and make the ugly knot impossible to ever get out.
Knots are funny like that. Most are meant to be permanent. But I'm not a Boy Scout, so I suppose you could prove my knot facts wrong....
Around 1700, the artist Johann Melchior Georg Schmidtner of Augsburg painted a beautiful image of the Blessed Mother holding a long white string, surrounded by angels, with a dove above her head.

Since then, Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, has become a powerful title of devotion for so many.
We all have knots in our lives- annoyances, struggles, hardships, some of them seemingly impossible situations! If you are looking for a miracle right now, I encourage you to pray the Novena to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots.
It is an extremely powerful novena! But I’m the type of person that collects things like this to use down the road for a really special, BIG problem… except that I never actually remember to use them or find a reason “big” enough.
I’m going to challenge that narrative today. Let’s just go ahead and pray this novena RIGHT NOW for whatever thing first comes to mind, big or small!
Stay tuned for the outcome for me, and please let me know what miracle you experience in your life! I'd love to hear it!
Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, pray for us!
Until next time, your sister in Christ,
Leah
Prayer to Mary, Undoer of Knots (Closing Novena Prayer)
Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exists in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that exist in my life.
You know very well how desperate I am, my pain, and how I am bound by these knots. Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of His children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life.
No one, not even the evil one himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands, there is no knot that cannot be undone.
Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot...I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all. You are my hope.
O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution, and with Christ, the freedom from my chains. Hear my plea.
Keep me, guide me, protect me, o safe refuge!
