His Love Never Fails; Trusting God with Our Earthly Treasures

With a real feel of 56 degrees Fahrenheit, fall is in the air here in central Minnesota! We've recently had a few really windy days, which have left acorns and leaves scattered all over our walking route. My daughter has been having so much fun collecting these fallen treasures. Everything she finds ends up in my hands before being placed in our treasure box, AKA the left cup holder of the stroller.

I learn so much from observing my daughter's way of life. She must have two free hands at all times. Holding her own water bottle or sweatshirt becomes an obstacle. She lives with a receptive freedom. Her hands are always available to receive the world around her.
The older I get, the less spontaneous I become. My hands are often full with juggling my regimented to-do list or our meal plan for the week. I find safety in control! But the more I control, the less room there is for the Lord’s spontaneous inspirations. I have much to learn from my daughter's childlike trust!

She has complete trust in me to protect every stick or leaf she places in my care. I learned the hard way that mindlessly tossing a leaf or rock back onto the ground is not okay!! She wants me to share in her delight and considers each treasure significant, so I must do the same.
I hold my earthly treasures tightly. To think anyone could love my husband or children more than I do seems impossible. Yet, God does! He has an overabundant love for each member of my family that surpasses any amount of love I could possibly give. He asks me to entrust them to His care. Easier said than done! But I am affirmed knowing that His love for them will never fail (Psalm 136).
When mistakes are made or discipline is needed, His love never fails.
When fear creeps in or control hinders our trust, His love never fails.
When we are unsure of His plan and doubt our path, His love never fails.
When we are overwhelmed by our circumstances, His love never fails.
When desolation blocks our ability to feel His love, His love never fails.

Heavenly Father, my Treasure Keeper, I offer my family to You. I place my husband and children into Your loving hands. I release them to Your stewardship and surrender my tendency to control and grasp tightly to their precious lives. You are the author of Love, and because Your love never fails, I know I can place my trust in You. Amen.
Until next time, your sister in Christ,
Abby
